This soapstone piece was created with the intention of purposely making the shell look rough. Light application of a multi-purpose rasp was used to achieve the effect.
Turtles
Most of these turtles were carve using tick-tack-toe template as guide for rough-cutting the stone prior to shaping riffler rasps and fine tuning with needle files. and wet sanding. Note the small birds in the background of photo.
